“Cock and Bull” stories well before “Concrete Cows” of Milton Keynes.

Stony Stratford High Street It is said that the saying “Cock and Bull story” (unbelievable or incredible story) originated in Stony Stratford. The two Pubs, Bull (near right) and Cock (set back on right) are still here. It is not difficult to imagine the days when this Roman road, Watling Street, was just like “M1” for England as far as horse drawn carriages were concerned and abundance of Pubs and Inns must have been ideal location for staggering travellers going from Pub to Pub telling stories getting more and more fanciful on the way.
